Direct Flights from Lombok to Australia Commencing in 2024

Following the introduction of options for the Lombok-Kuala Lumpur route, plans are underway to resume the direct international flight route between Lombok and Australia this year.

This route had previously been operational in 2019 but was temporarily suspended due to the outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemic.

A spokesperson for Lombok International Airport confirmed that the direct flights from Lombok to Australia, set to commence this year, will include routes to Darwin and Perth.

Airnorth Airline will operate the Lombok-Darwin route, while Lion Air will service the Lombok-Perth route.

Airnorth conducted assessments at Lombok Airport in February to finalize their operational requirements. Presently, the opening of the Lombok-Darwin route is pending.

Concurrently, Lion Air plans to operate the Lombok-Perth route. This route was previously serviced by Air Asia in 2019 before being suspended due to the pandemic. Discussions regarding the resumption of operations for this route have been underway, awaiting Lion Air’s decision.

The decision to develop the Australian route is closely tied to the anticipated influx of tourists from Australia to Lombok.

According to data gathered by PT AP I Lombok Airport from various accommodations in Lombok, the projected number of Australian tourists for 2023 is 5,688 individuals. In 2019, passenger traffic from Perth alone totaled 23,719 people.
