Indonesian Onshore Visas Are No Longer Available
On June 7, 2023, the Republic of Indonesia’s Ministry of Law and Human Rights issued the most recent regulation, denoted as number 19 of 2023.
This regulation effectively annuls the previous Regulation Minister of Law and Human Rights, number 34 of 2021, which contained an article stating that foreigners with residence permits, currently residing in Indonesian territory and unable to return to their home country, could be eligible for a new residence permit after obtaining a visa. Specifically, the visa mentioned in the article was a visit visa.
With the revocation of Regulation Number 34, on-shore visa applications (B211, C312, C313, C314, C317) are no longer accepted, and the same applies to on-shore EPO (Exit Permit Only) processes.
As a result, applicants who undergo the EPO process are now required to depart Indonesia within 7 days. Additionally, visa applicants must activate their visas by entering Indonesia from overseas.
These changes reflect the updated guidelines stipulated in the newly introduced Regulation Number 19 of 2023, impacting the process of applying for visas and residence permits in Indonesia.
